What is the best way of inducting students / graduates in the use of RAPID?

When introducing students or graduates to the RAPID Progress File, you may wish to consider the following guidelines:

  • Before being introduced to the RAPID Progress File, students and graduates could be given a short induction programme to cover both the 'recording achievement' process and the 'skills development' process of the Progress File.
  • Where students or graduates fail to show a clear appreciation of any of the processes (e.g. skills auditing, action planning) additional support and guidance should be provided or sought.
  • Our experience shows that, where possible, the use of the RAPID Progress File should be embedded into existing structures and processes.
  • On degree courses, monitoring, controlling and supporting the use of the Progress File could be achieved through existing pastoral and / or personal tutorial systems.
  • In Employer Organisations the use of the Progress File could be integrated within existing appraisal systems or professional mentoring programmes.

The RAPID Progress File is designed to be the individual property of the student / graduate. As a Tutor or Professional Mentor / Trainer you may, however, wish to provide structures that support the processes, as described.
